1928 PontiacThe Pontiac Division of General Motors was created specifically to compete in the price range with Model T Fords. The first Pontiac automobile debuted at the 1926 New York Auto Show. The new car was an immediate success - largely because it was a six cylinder vehicle competing in the price range of four cylinder Fords. Within a year GM drew up plans for a new
$15 million assembly plant.

1953 Pontiac ConvertiblePontiac had many successful models over the years, some of the more notable were - Streamliner, Astre, Laurentian, Star Chief, Chieftain, Silver Streak, Super Chief, Bonneville, Grand AM, Grand Prix, LeMans, Firebird, Sunbird, GTO, Trans AM, Catalina, Fiero, Phoenix, Solstice, Tempest, Safari and Ventura. Pontiac's distinctive Indian headdress hood ornaments was discontinued in 1957.
